Meet some of the people who make it happen:
Hermias Vollgraaf
Manager & Winemaker
With Montagu Winery since August 2013
Hermias leads the overall direction of Montagu Winery, combining responsibility for the cellar’s business operations with an active role in winemaking. From vineyard management and harvest decisions through to blending and bottling, he helps guide the entire journey from grape to finished wine.
His experience spans viticulture, cellar management, operational planning and the creation of wines that reflect the distinctive terroir of the Montagu region.
Chris de Villiers
Winemaker
With Montagu Winery since August 2017
Chris oversees the day-to-day winemaking process, from grape intake and fermentation through to barrel maturation, blending and final quality control.
With a strong technical background in oenology, wine chemistry and cellar management, he brings precision and attention to detail to every stage of production while helping ensure consistency and quality across the Montagu Winery portfolio.
Stephanie du Plessis
Tasting Room Manager
With Montagu Winery since January 2026
Stephanie leads the tasting room experience and is one of the welcoming faces visitors are likely to meet when they arrive at Montagu Winery.
She oversees wine tastings, direct sales, front-of-house hospitality, staff coordination and special events, helping to create the warm and relaxed experience that defines a visit to the cellar door.
Her background in hospitality, customer service and event coordination makes her an important ambassador for the Montagu Winery brand.
Esterine Roos
Accountant
With Montagu Winery since August 2023
Esterine looks after the financial administration that keeps Montagu Winery running smoothly behind the scenes.
Her responsibilities include financial reporting, bookkeeping, payroll, invoicing, tax compliance and budget management, together with the financial systems required to support both winery and agricultural operations.
Her attention to detail plays an important role in keeping the business organised, compliant and financially well managed.
Stefan Vosloo
Concentrate Plant Operator
With Montagu Winery since June 2025
Stefan is responsible for operating and monitoring the grape juice concentration plant and its associated machinery.
His role includes managing temperature controls, evaporation processes and product flow to ensure consistent quality throughout concentrate production.
With expertise in industrial machinery operation and technical process monitoring, Stefan plays an important role in maintaining product consistency, production efficiency and high cellar hygiene standards.
Adriaan van Zyl
Maintenance Manager
With Montagu Winery since April 2017
Adriaan is responsible for keeping the machinery, equipment and infrastructure behind Montagu Winery operating safely and reliably.
From cooling and bottling equipment to general cellar machinery and facility maintenance, his role is essential to the smooth running of the winery throughout the year — and particularly during the demands of harvest.
His expertise includes mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and facility safety.
Robert Windvogel
Cellar Assistant
With Montagu Winery since February 2008
Robert supports the day-to-day cellar operations across a wide range of practical tasks.
His responsibilities include barrel and tank cleaning, grape receiving and crushing, rackings, general cellar sanitation, and assisting during bottling runs.
With many years of hands-on winery experience, Robert brings strong practical knowledge of cellar operations, harvest handling, hygiene and sanitation procedures, and effective teamwork throughout the production process.
Quizelle de Villiers
Tasting Room Assistant
With Montagu Winery since August 2026
Quizelle welcomes visitors to the cellar door with a warm and friendly approach.
She conducts guided wine tastings, assists with direct sales and point-of-sale transactions, and helps ensure the tasting room remains inviting, well-stocked and beautifully presented.
With a natural flair for hospitality and customer engagement, Quizelle creates a relaxed and approachable tasting experience, helping guests feel at ease while introducing them to the wines.
