What began as a group of local farmers working together has developed into one of the most prominent wineries in the Klein Karoo - yet the spirit behind it remains much the same.
We are still shaped by the families who farm here, the relationships built over generations and a shared belief that our collective strength allows us to achieve more.
Today, 34 member shareholders supply the winery from 41 farms across the Montagu region. Some of these farming families have been connected to the cellar for generations.
Together, they give our winemakers access to vineyards spanning very different soils, elevations and microclimates, creating both the scale and diversity for which Montagu Winery is known.
Our story may have started in 1941, but we remain firmly focused on what comes next.

For more than eight decades, our success has depended not only on the quality of the wines we produce, but on the people who work together to make them possible.
From the vineyard to the cellar and beyond, every relationship forms part of the same chain. In the vineyard, there is trust between our producers and the farmworkers who care for the vines and bring each harvest to life. At the winery, our growers, management, winemakers and cellar teams work together with a shared commitment to quality.
Beyond our cellar doors, long-standing relationships with our wine partners are built on consistency, reliability and the confidence that Montagu Winery will deliver. And ultimately, that same commitment reaches the person pouring a bottle of Montagu wine. The key represents all of these connections.
